BEHIND THE SCENES
Lynne Sanders – silk artist, textile & surface designer, felt maker and machine embroiderer.
A rich blend of artistic talent, creative textile and surface design, handmade uniqueness and vibrant presentation characterize the work of Canberra silk painter and felt maker, Lynne Sanders.
Having studied in Sydney as a student and trained in oil painting in her early years, Lynne gained further artistic experience in England, Victoria and Tasmania where she concentrated on landscapes and successfully exhibited her paintings in Hobart.
Later, while visiting Adelaide she discovered the thrills of silk painting and developed the technique to produce wearable art and ladies accessories.
Always keen to explore different mediums and techniques, Lynne began making hand made felt using pure Australian merino wool fleece. She then combined the felt with her silk and free machine embroidery to design and develop a range of unique scarves, wraps and accessories.
Lynne has on occasions supplied ACT governments with official gifts and local, interstate and overseas clients with Australian gifts and works of art. Her work has been sent to over 20 countries.
She has won numerous awards at the Royal Canberra Show and the Canberra Region Felt Makers, of which she is a long term member and committee member. She studied surface design at the CIT and has taught silk painting and felt making in Canberra.
Her work can be purchased online via this website and at Canberra’s major art and craft market each Sunday – the Old Bus Depot Market stall 142 on the Kingston Foreshore.
